On August 27, The Schelswig Holstein Music Festival awarded the 10th annual Leonard Bernstein Award to violist David Aaron Carpenter. The 10000 Euro award is made possible by the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. Alexander Bernstein was on hand to present the award at a gala concert featuring a performance of the NDR Symphony conducted byChristoph Eschenbach featuring a performance of Bartok’s Violaconcerto by award winner David Aaron Carpenter .

Four of the concerts at this year's Maverick festival will honor Leonard Bernstein and his mid-20th century compatriots. The festival, "America's oldest continuous summer chamber music series", will present the programs on July 17, 23, 31 and August 28 in the historic hall in Woodstock, NY.

The family of Leonard Bernstein and his colleagues at The Leonard Bernstein Office mourn the passing of composer Jack Gottlieb, who in his role as personal assistant and musical advisor to the Maestro, became an essential member of both his family and his business. Jack's wit and open-heartedness were boundless, and he will be sorely, sadly missed by one and all.
